With cold weather approaching, here are some tips to follow:
- Disconnect and drain outside faucets
-Turn off outside faucets inside house or building if available
-Let faucets drip on both hot and cold sides during the coldest hours
-Open cabinets and clean out to allow air flow to keep piping from freezing
-For bathrooms over garages: use RV anti-freeze in the drains to keep the drains from freezing
-Keep bathroom doors open to allow extra air flow
-Know where your water main shut off is located and make sure it's accessible in case of a freeze break
-Should any pipes freeze: turn on faucet and try using a hair dryer to unthaw
-After the temperatures warm up, turn off all fixtures to the house and watch water meter to see if anything is leaking
